Job Description:

The Customer Sales is responsible for developing and maintaining customer accounts.

Primary Duties:
  • Books and manages loads for existing customers
  • Secures new accounts by strategic prospecting, cold calling, and utilizing industry networking for referrals
  • Solves issues as they arise to maximize profit dollars
  • Negotiates sell rates to customers and buy rates for carriers
  • Assists with invoicing accuracy and credit management
  • Updates and maintains accurate load logs
  • Other duties as required and assigned

Requirements: Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from a 4 year college or university preferred
  • Minimum 3 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and training
  • Knowledge of truckload industry with specific regard to regional and national supply and demand fluctuations
  • PC proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Essential Skills:
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Well developed negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills

Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
