RESPONSIBILITIES: * Apply in-depth knowledge of common statistical and chemometric methods to assist and guide scientists, engineers, and programmers in the use of DoE (process optimization, mixture designs) and data analysis tools (multivariate PCA, PLS, clustering, resampling, etc.) * Maintain awareness of chemometric advancements through the review of literature sources and attending technical conferences; implement the most valuable approaches into daily processes * Prepare educational materials for, deliver stakeholder-appropriate training to, and support all HT users on a routine and as-needed basis * Supervise a programmer analyst in the development of a data management system that enables automatic data extraction, storage, categorization, integration, calculation, validation, querying, analysis, modeling, interpretation, and distribution to the technical and administrative community * Demonstrate excellent customer service skills in a team environment * Provide support to special projects throughout R&D on an as-needed basis as defined by supervision * Manage multiple tasks and projects * Work with other | |||||
QUALIFICATIONS * PhD in Chemometrics or Statistics with either prior degrees in Chemistry / Material Science /Chemical Engineering or a history of successfully applying statistical methods in the (petro)chemical industry * ≥ 10 years of close involvement with experimental testing work and its related constraints, preferably with a specialization in: o Catalyst development, performance testing, and kinetic modeling o High throughput synthesis o Analytical techniques (crystallography, spectroscopy, chromatography, imaging) * Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to explain complex mathematical concepts in straightforward terms and to convince people of the usefulness of a systematic quantitative approach to conducting research * Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment * Programming proficiency in 3rd (e.g., FORTRAN, C, Visual Basic) and 4th (e.g., MatLab) generation languages
