Job Summary and Scope:
As a Packaging Design Intern, you will support the local design center staff with daily project collaboration, specification generation, sample making and testing.
The role will have a strong focus on traditional packaging development with industry tools, software, and entry-level experience in this space.
General knowledge of the packaging industry, willingness to learn, attention to detail and enthusiastic creativity are all key personal aspects for this position.
Areas of Exposure:
Packaging design & development with industry-standard tools, software & machinery. Development & manipulation of pallet configurations for packaging, life-cycle analysis, graphic design, sample preparation and graphic layouts for prototype output.
Responsibilities:
Specification generation and output for a variety of traditional packaging designs, in support of regional packaging sales opportunities
Prototype development with a variety of design center equipment such as; CAD-CAM sample making tables, digital printing equipment, gluing, stitching, and sealing tools, board analysis, and ISTA testing equipment
Networking and collaboration with local design center staff, national design center staff, sales, specialists, suppliers and customers in support of design projects and daily activities
Qualifications/Knowledge & Experience:
A rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in packaging science, engineering, industrial design or graphic design or other related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
Ability to demonstrate visual communication skills via sketching, drawing or diagrams.
Familiarity with 2D CAD, ArtiosCAD or similar industry-standard packaging design software.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud or similar graphic development software.
Familiarity with 3D or Industrial Design software a plus; such as SolidWorks, Rhino or Strata.
Must be able to handle multiple projects and effectively prioritize workload.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
Work within, and contribute to, a team environment.
Highly motivated with a competitive attitude.
