Sr Director Impact Communications

Location: Las Colinas, Texas

Current Need

We are looking for a talented Sr Director, Impact Communications to join our team. This role has responsibility for developing both internal and external platforms for the Office of the Chief Impact Officer, leading all communications directly related his areas of responsibility, which include Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Sustainability/ESP and the McKesson Foundation. The role will also be responsible for building and leveraging relationships with advocacy and community partners to enhance McKesson relationships with these organizations and create opportunities to advance the objectives of the Office of the Chief Impact Officer This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) and have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Chief Impact Officer. The individual will also serve as a member of the Officer of the Chief Impact Officer and BMC leadership teams. The successful candidate should have experience serving as a trusted communications advisor to C-suite executives and significant communications experience in more than one of the areas of importance for the Chief Impact Officer (DEI, Sustainability ESG and the Corporate Foundation). Experience in either corporate or agency healthcare communications (pharma, payor or hospital provider) is also preferred for this role. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in shaping a bold narrative through proactive communications, strong national media relationships, advocacy partnerships, and social engagement.

Sr. Director, Communications - Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute corporate internal and external platforms and programs to support the Office of Impact's mission and goals.
  • Work directly with other BMC External and Internal communications leaders to ensure the successful execution of Impact programs.
  • Create and execute an ongoing multifaceted, integrated plan with initiatives and programs that contribute to advancing the Office of the Chief Impact Officer strategies and drive clearly defined messages across all channels.
  • Build and leverage relationships with key advocacy and community partners to advance the objectives of the Office of the Chief Impact Officer.
  • Leverage opportunities around key corporate and business events such as key civic and community programs demonstrating corporate responsibility.
  • Work collaboratively across company and business unit leadership and peers to continually identify high impact external communications opportunities to advance the priorities of the Office of the Chief Impact Officer and, in turn, the corporate reputation of McKesson.

Desired Experience:

  • 12+ years of managing strategic communications programs and teams that improve the value of the company.
  • Demonstrated experience working to directly lead internal and external communications for a C-Suite executive.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing strategic communications programs that deliver demonstrated ROI.
  • Prior experience in key areas of focus (DEI, Sustainability/ESG, Corporate Foundation).
  • Experience in corporate (pharma, payer, hospital provider) or agency preferred.
  • Strong relationships and demonstrated record of working with advocacy and community partners.

  • Team player who is focused on delivering against the business/function needs rather than personal passions or individual agendas.
  • Outstanding judgment, intuition, self-starter/strong initiative, and quick learner.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate company and team needs.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects to budget and schedule.

Education

Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, mass media, information technology and/or communications or other related field; graduate degree preferred.

Travel

  • Up to 10% travel may be required
