Job Description

Mechanical Engineer Co-Op's allow students to work full-time with Southwire Company for three cycled semesters (Spring 22, Fall 22, Summer 23). This program allows students to obtain real-world experience, while networking with individuals within their field of study.

Task and Responsibilities

  • Shadow Current Mechanical Engineers
  • Interact in business meetings and become familiar with different meeting settings
  • Complete Projects from design through commissioning
  • Design systems within estimated budgets and track costs
  • Operate with internal and external customers
  • Mange schedules with contractors and plant managers
  • Provide engineering Support
  • CAD tutorials and exposure, [ Inventor - Mechanical AutoCAD]
  • Research and Data comparison
  • Evaluation of project proposals

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability to work 40-hour work weeks during rotation
  • Willingness and ability to commit to a minimum of 3 rotations
  • Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior pursuing a bachelor's degree
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
