We are currently hiring a Full-Time Optical Machine Operator - Night Shift

*Work schedule is:

Night Shift - 9:30pm to 6:00am (Monday through Friday)

Crew 1 = 6:00AM to 6:00PM (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday)

6:00AM to 12:00PM (Wednesday)

Crew 2 = 12:00PM to 6:00PM (Wednesday)

6:00AM to 6:00PM (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)

SUMMARY

Prepare, inspect, and clean lenses for Hard Coating.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Duties
  1. Follow all SOP's and best practices for the AR/HV department
  2. Ensure lenses are clean of dust and debris
  3. Inspection, sorting, washing, and prepping lenses for Hard Coating.
  4. Operate Backside Coating machines.
  5. Set up lenses into racks, feed racks into Hard Coat Dipping Machine.
  6. Visual inspection of the lenses after Hard Coating.
  7. Use Oven to cure coating
  8. Use stripping machine to strip lens coatings or coatings from racks
  9. Reject bad coating on lenses
  10. Help routing work in the AR-Preparation room
  11. Maintains workstation clean and organized
  12. Able to work on computer-controlled equipment
  13. Maintains hourly production goals

Secondary Duties
  1. Be able to multi-task, as required by workflow or Supervisor
  2. Handling flammable/corrosive materials daily
  3. Light record keeping on machine maintenance
  4. Maintain cleanliness of the lab
  5. Perform duties as requested by Supervisor
  6. Maintain the machine clean inside and out
  7. Maintain workstation and work areas clean and organized

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Experience in the Optical Industry as it relates to ophthalmic lenses is desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Able and willing to work as a team
  • Basic Math
  • Must be able to work Overtime, Saturdays and Sundays and some holidays when needed
  • Good hand to eye coordination
  • Able to read and write English Language well
  • Able to analyze and record yield data accurately
  • Experience or knowledge working with automated equipment
  • Problem solving skills
  • Work without constant supervision
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. During maintenance, employee required to squat, stretch, twist, bend, and be able to work inside tight areas.

Safety Requirements

  • Closed toe shoe required with heel support.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must wear safety glasses, gloves, face mask and lab coat as required by the task.
