Job Description
Why Pediatrics?

The Department of Pediatrics is looking for a Research Associate with at least a Bachelor's degree with a focus on computer science, mathematics, physics, or engineering (such as electric engineering, biomedical engineering). Experience in artificial intelligence or machine learning is desirable but not essential. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. The post will be under direct supervision by Dr. Qing Zou and will be part of the pediatric cardiac magnetic resonance imaging lab.

Laboratory Expectations

* Organizing the laboratory and following work assignments from Dr. Zou.

* Follow advice as to techniques, procedures, and equipment to be utilized in solving work problems.

* Able to review completed work with seniors for professional quality and attainment of desired results.

* Compilation and evaluation of research data to present this to faculty members in the team.

* Analysis of cardiac magnetic resonance data and application of novel sequences under supervision of senior team members.

* Preparation of reports and papers for publication or presentation, again under supervision.

* Develop a sense of autonomy as techniques and analytical methods are learnt.

Experience and Education

* Master's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and three (3) years of laboratory experience including at least two years at level of Research Assistant II or equivalent. or

* Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and four (4) years of laboratory experience including two years at level of Research Assistant II or equivalent.

Job Duties

* Recommends and/or initiates new or modified procedures and techniques based upon latest developments in assigned field or analysis of research data.

* Performs computer programming for accumulation and analysis of research data.

* Designs, constructs, repairs, or modifies electronic and/or mechanical equipment or apparatus used in experiments and research projects.

* Instructs medical students, graduate students, residents, or other laboratory personnel of lower grade with respect to techniques, procedures, and equipment utilized in research or experiments.

* Assists principal investigator and other professional personnel in writing of reports and papers for publication.

* May provide working supervision to employees of lower grade engaged in performance of variety of difficult and complex laboratory work tasks.

* Performs other duties as assigned.
