Title: Assistant Professor

Date Closed: Review of applications will begin April 2024 and will continue until the position is filled. The position is expected to begin in Fall of 2024.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Doswell School of Aeronautical Sciences at Texas Woman's University is seeking a tenure track Assistant Professor position.

The Assistant Professor candidate will engage in scholarly activity, contribute to the research efforts of the program, and teach graduate and undergraduate courses. An earned Doctorate Degree with an emphasis in aviation/aerospace management is required. Other Qualifications may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FAA Commercial single and multi-engine certificate.
  • Current CFI/CFII or AGI (or ability to obtain)
  • Management experience in aviation operations
  • Research agenda and/or peer-reviewed publications

The Aeronautics Program in the School of the Sciences contributes significantly to the mission of the University through scholarly endeavors, engagement of students, and outreach to the community and profession. The Aeronautics Program currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Science with two tracks: Professional Pilot and Aviation Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is essential. Initial responsibilities will focus on teaching undergraduate Aviation Science courses, as well as courses for the College of Business. Demonstrated experience with the use of technology in instruction and an interest in developing/teaching distance learning courses is highly desirable. Scholarly expectations include research and pursuit of external funding opportunities, publications in peer-reviewed journals, and presentations at local, regional and national conferences. Service to professional organizations is expected as is service to the university including participation in department, college and university committees.
