Responsibilities

  • Order and pick up medications from Pharmacy. Stock carts with needed medications. Require knowledge of generic and brand names for all pharmaceuticals. Maintain medications within their expiration date and properly dispose of expired medications
  • Stock and clean all assigned areas daily. Stock, clear and replace all anesthesia equipment and supplies as necessary
  • Participate in room turnover assuring minimal downtime between cases
  • Perform decontamination of areas after each case. Remove and replace anesthesia circuits and suction. Change soda lime canister as needed
  • Set up special monitoring lines for cases
  • Coordinate basic upkeep and maintenance of anesthesia machine with Biomedical personnel
  • Obtain and prepare equipment for transport of critically ill patients
  • Maintain all specialty carts in the department
  • Maintain daily log of refrigerator temperatures in workrooms in Main OR, Day Surgery and OB
  • Adhere to guidelines provided by MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) on hazardous materials and supplies
  • Recognize, adhere to and is knowledgeable of the Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
