Overview

The Construction Administration Manager's main role is to provide oversight and management of the construction lending platform within the Real Estate (CRE) portfolio at CrossFirst Bank.


Responsibilities

  • Model our corporate values of Character, Competence, Commitment and Connection.
  • Motivate and lead a high performing Construction Administration team; attract, recruit and retain team members.
  • Mentor team members utilizing Strength Based Leadership objectives.
  • Manage the Construction Administration team by planning, organizing and coordinating team workflow and activities.
  • Train and develop team members in all areas of job responsibilities, including laws, regulations, risk identification and management, software and related updates.
  • Analyze operational effectiveness of the Construction Administration team; determine cause for any gaps in operational effectiveness, make recommendations to leadership, and implement process improvement plans as needed.
  • Clearly communicate performance expectations to team members and address any deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Work closely and collaborate with Bankers, Lending Assistants and Portfolio Managers to understand their construction loan requests.
  • Provide oversight of construction loans; review and monitor construction budgets; review, and occasionally approve, construction draw requests to ensure items align with construction budgets; as well as reviewing physical inspections of construction projects.
  • Manage the Bank's construction loan management software and the vendor relationship.
  • Enter new construction loan data, including budgets, in Bank's construction loan management software.
  • Reconcile construction loan balances with Bank's Core system.
  • Monitor interest reserve accounts used for loan payments.
  • Ensure that all disbursement documentation is scanned and saved in the Bank's system.
  • Provide ongoing training and resources on Bank's construction loan management software for the Bankers Lending Assistants and Portfolio Managers.
  • Provide documentation support for all construction loans to bank examiners and auditors.
  • Provide construction management support to Residential Construction Bankers through utilization of the Bank's construction loan management software (Abrigo Construct) for residential construction lending.
  • Prepare and analyze construction loan reports as directed.
  • Recode construction loans once a project has received final certificate of occupancy.
  • Establish strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information; identify and evaluate trends; define objectives and evaluate outcomes and adjust strategic direction as needed.
  • Achieve financial objectives; forecast annual expenses and operate within budgetary guidelines; analyze variances and make adjustments as needed.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for all construction loan functions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional organizations.
  • Maintain quality of service by enforcing quality and client service standards; analyze and resolve quality and client service problems; identify trends; recommend system and process improvements.Interact with internal and external clients while providing extraordinary service.
  • Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with employees, clients and vendors.
  • Represent the Bank and Credit Administration team in a highly professional manner.
  • Complete job assignments in a professional, timely and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work.
  • Maintain confidentiality; adhere to CrossFirst Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations and industry best practices.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance; both onsite and remote.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years in construction loan management or equivalent experience.
  • PC experience in a Windows environment, Word and advanced spreadsheet experience on Excel is required.
  • Ability to review and understand real estate appraisals.
  • Ability to utilize construction loan management software (Abrigo Construct).
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial loans, principles, policies and practices as well as current lending laws and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of construction loan underwriting and analysis, along with strong familiarity with construction loan documentation.
  • Experience developing effective construction loan activity reports for management.
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communications skills are required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships, internally and externally.
  • Bachelor's degree with exposure to Accounting, Finance or Business courses is preferred or equivalent work experience.
