TTI, Inc. is looking for an Open Systems Manager at our Corporate office in Northwest Fort Worth, TX.

The Open Systems Manager is responsible for the operations of TTI's Open Systems infrastructure team, which includes UNIX and x86 Computing, Storage, and Data Protection. The role involves collaborating with application teams to assess compute and storage requirements, analyzing usage trends, and forecasting future needs. It includes determining capacity requirements, recommending suitable infrastructure solutions, and overseeing performance monitoring and tuning. The position also entails managing changes to technical environments, ensuring comprehensive testing, and addressing incidents and support queries. Additionally, the role requires designing and implementing both corrective and preventative measures, monitoring infrastructure health through metrics, and creating reports for key stakeholders. This position will manage a team of IT specialists with effective task delegation and foster their professional growth.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide guidance and leadership, proactively resolve issues, and foster inter-group collaboration to fulfill all operational commitments and goals
  • Offer recommendations and execute improvements to enhance system uptime, performance, and reliability.
  • Review infrastructure performance reporting and metrics for stability to support 24x7x365 operations.
  • Participate in ITIL based change management process providing business impact and risk perspective to proposed production changes. Ensure team follows established policies and procedures for internal and external audits.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Develops and directs the Open Systems team of personnel by hiring, training and leading the best qualified people, utilizing effective communication, motivational and coaching techniques, leading by example, and providing ongoing performance management.
  • Provides strategic direction and recommendations on new technology. Seeks ways to continuously improve the performance of the Open Systems team productivity and establish work priorities and time requirements.
  • Ensure complete infrastructure technical documentation.
  • Ensures overall system performance meets company and department goals and objectives by evaluating current methods, making recommendations and by developing project plans.
  • Interface, communicate and build relationships with internal customers throughout the organization at various levels of management to represent the Information Services Open Systems team.
  • Research and interfaces with vendors for various needs of services and system support for project planning and accomplishing various business objectives.
  • Supports change control and disaster recovery activities for the Open Systems team.
  • May be requested to participate or lead special project or advisory teams.
  • Assist with annual budget process and establishing objectives for group.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science plus five to seven years Open/Distributed Systems experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience. Prior experience in a management or supervisory role required.

SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience managing operations and/or technology teams
  • Advanced knowledge of Midrange systems concepts and fundamentals.
  • Advanced knowledge of application architecture concepts and fundamentals.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows server architectures.
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization concepts and technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of Citrix Xen application delivery.
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications systems
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN concepts and fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of PC operating systems and applications software and hardware.
  • Ability to lead and manage a work team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively document procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to work weekends and after business hours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to position self to maintain computers and various network equipment in the buildings, including under desks, in the server rooms, and anywhere cabling installation and maintenance would be required for troubleshooting and optimal organizational connectivity and usage.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to perceive and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
  • Detect and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; converse in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
