Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Culture and Equity to lead and drive Cambium Assessment's Culture and Equity efforts, including Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) efforts in partnership with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing organizational strategies, programs, and initiatives that promote internal culture and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across Cambium Assessment, as well as coordinating and liaising with the VP of DEIB at Cambium Learning Group. This position reports directly to the President of Cambium Assessment and collaborates with internal DEIB council members, Cambium Assessment's People Experience representatives, Employee Resource Group (ERG) representatives, and the Cambium Assessment senior leadership team to foster a culture that values and celebrates inclusion and diversity as we strive to make sure that all of our employees feel seen, valued and supported.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategy Development: Develop, implement, grow, and maintain a comprehensive culture and equity strategy, including ERG work across Cambium, aligned with and in support of Cambium Assessment's goals, values and purpose. Continuously assess and improve the strategy based on industry best practices, employee feedback and evolving needs in pursuit of our purpose. Develop best practices that include not only accessibility within our programs for our customers, but also for our internal employees in order to be successful in their roles within Cambium Assessment and across Cambium (e.g., how they access daily tools like Teams).

Leadership and Collaboration: Collaborate with senior leaders, managers, and employees to identify and address barriers to a values-driven culture and equity in the workplace. Provide strategic leadership to drive Culture and DEIB initiatives across all of Cambium Assessment including sharing ways to weave our values throughout everyday work. Provide thought leadership and consultation to a wide variety of stakeholders to integrate culture and equity principles into various business processes, policies, and procedures. Additional leadership for the following structures:

  • Build a collaborative and working relationship with:
    • Cambium VP of DEIB and CLG DEIB Collective
    • People Experience (HR) teams
    • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Council
    • Employee Resource Group (ERG) program

Communication:Serve as a champion for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the organization. Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness, promote understanding, and foster a sense of belonging among employees.

Metrics and Reporting: Partner with the Cambium VP of DEIB and Cambium Assessment Senior Leadership Team to drive impact through DEIB metrics and track progress to goals. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of DEIB initiatives. Regularly analyze data, generate reports, and present findings to senior leadership, identifying areas for improvement and recommending appropriate strategies.

Job Requirements:

  • Passionate about creating an inclusive and equitable workplace and advancing diversity and inclusion efforts.
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in a dedicated DEIB or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of DEIB best practices, theories, and frameworks. Training experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive DEIB strategies and initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and empathize with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and strategy development.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong program management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently, with minimal supervision, including facilitating work with ERG teams and other cross functional teams.
  • Experience in managing diversity-related metrics, influencing change, tracking progress, and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Background and history in K-12 education and/or K-12 EdTech preferred.
