Company Description:

Hunt Utility Services, a privately held company providing management and support services for Sharyland Utilities, L.L.C., a Texas-based electric transmission utility is seeking an Electrical Engineer for the with focus on Maintenance, Testing and Asset Commissioning of Substation Equipment and with implementation of NERC FAC and Texas Infrastructure and Reliability standards in the Transmission Operations organization.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Maintenance, the Engineer provides support for transmission operations and maintenance, including development of procedures, completion of analytical studies, facility condition assessments, and equipment support. Applies approved programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with transmission operating reliability requirements. Interpret and advise transmission operations and maintenance personnel of transmission maintenance issues. Responsibilities may include implementation of compliance programs for one or more NERC or PUCT reliability standards.

Responsibilities:

  • May be assigned to develop plans, specifications, evaluations design standards, and perform engineering studies associated with the design, operation, and maintenance of Sharyland's transmission systems
  • May specialize in developing maintenance and testing plans for transmission equipment or systems
  • Perform project management and engineering functions on special projects, as assigned, to maintain compliance and/or continued operation and maintenance of Sharyland Utilities' transmission facilities
  • Collaborate with peers or other personnel to identify, define, or solve practical problems in support of transmission design, maintenance processes and compliance programs
  • May be assigned to areas of compliance with various Reliability standards including but not limited to the following: CIP, COM, EOP, FAC, IRO, PRC, or Texas Infrastructure and Reliability regulations (16 TAC *25)
  • May be assigned to develop training for transmission personnel, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations, or other industry best practices and standards
  • Ensures record keeping and retention meets regulatory, internal and other requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

  • Works in outdoor and office conditions
  • May be required to provide technical support for field technician related to maintenance and restoration activities
  • May supervise maintenance and constructions project

Required Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and communications skills (both oral and written)
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions
  • The successful individual will be a mature self-starter, service-oriented and be professional in conduct and attitude
  • A valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft 365 Apps (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams etc.)

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from ABET accredited curriculum
  • 2 - 5 years industry specific experience
  • EIT/FE (Certificate of Engineer in Training or Fundamentals of Engineering Exam) Required
