Profile

We are seeking an Addiction Specialty physician committed to providing healthcare services to patients in need of addiction and/or substance use related care. This position will serve at an affiliated county hospital - Parkland Health.

The selected candidate must have an M.D./D.O., be board certified or board eligible in their primary specialty (e.g. General Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine) and must have completed specialty training in Addiction (Addiction Psychiatry and/or Addiction Medicine) and/or be board certified or board eligible in Addiction specialty.

While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection, it is a pre-requisite for starting in the position. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to an academic career. Bilingual Spanish is a plus. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.

Skills or Special Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the appropriate specialty practice assessment techniques and treatment processes;
  • Must be able to determine objectives, set priorities, and establish and meet target dates;
  • Must be able to work effectively with other health care professionals and serve as a subject matter expert resource to health care providers at Parkland Health and UTSW;
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective leadership/clinic management skill;
  • Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior;
