Firmware / Embedded Software Intern
Job Description: We are looking for a sharp, hardworking, creative, hands-on engineering intern that is self-motivated and interested in working on software run on our ARM microcontroller. The candidate should be comfortable working both individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, and software) to help tackle challenging and innovative projects. Must be willing to work in a dynamic, adaptive environment where the technical focus is continuously changing.
Firmware Engineer Intern Summary

The main project will focus on designing and testing interfaces to new sensors, and comparing noise across different designs. This will be an exciting time to work in a mixed electrical, software, and mechanical team, and to do a deep dive into the important subject of electrical noise.

Preferred experience includes:
- Firmware design experience in C. ARM or ESP32 processors are most relevant. FreeRTOS is also of interest. Experience on other systems may be helpful as well
- Processor debug experience
- Experience interfacing with low level MCU peripherals such as UART, SPI bus, or an ADC.
- Experience using EE tools such as power supplies and oscilloscopes
Requirements
- Strong academic record in an Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Computer Science degree.
- Examples of device firmware written in C.
- Desire to contribute to a dynamic environment in a self-motivated, action-oriented fashion.
- Ability to work well both as part of team and independently.
- Efficient personal time management, organization, and task prioritization
- Strong technical communication (verbal and written) to effectively present/report work for internal engineering team and potentially external customers
- Due to the nature of our government work, the applicant must be a U.S. person (citizen or Green Card holder/permanent resident)
- Rising Senior
- 3.2 GPA or higher
