Job Description:

The Engineer Manager will be a significant collaborator in the development of new products in gas equipment line as well as maintaining the existing portfolio of brands like Victor, TurboTorch and others related to the gas equipment business. It will be a strategic support for the product marketing management, as well as for the plants in North America and the quality and engineering team. The role will be involved in a variety of activities including participating to manage brainstorming and creating new product ideas, developing new products, presenting product line growth initiatives, implementing cost reductions proposals, product optimization/platforming, rationalization of products and technical support in the line of gas equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage NAM Gas Equipment Engineer Team
  • Manage Gas Equipment Lab
  • Manage Gas Equipment Machining Shop
  • New product development, ideation, brainstorming, and intellectual property management of oxy-fuel torches, regulators and general gas control equipment
  • Product lifecycle management via Windchill PLM system
  • Manage test lab and model shop activities
  • Manage Intertek ETL listing and auditing, and other agency compliance requirements
  • Perform R&D product testing in a test lab environment
  • Product design validation to required industry standards
  • Graphic design of product labels and decals
  • Packaging design and validation
  • Creation of product variants, modifications, specials
  • Creo/CAD drawing creation/revision/obsolescence
  • Follow up POs for all department expenditures.
  • Create/work ECRs and ECNs (Documentation for new product creation or product changing).
  • NPI (New Product Introduction) projects and variants, supporting principal engineer and global engineer team with technical knowledge in all steps of the project.
  • General part number creation and document control
  • Quality support and problem resolution, understanding production or field issues, identifying the root cause and support in the definitive and immediately countermeasures, assuring that the problem was solved.
  • Sales support and problem resolution, identifying the right product to offer according to sales/customer information
  • Production support and problem resolution
  • New product ideation and brainstorming
  • General product knowledge support (designs, applications, history, etc.)
  • Use Creo CAD software to design:
  • Machined parts, forgings, die cast parts, stamped parts, plastic molded parts, packaging, and miscellaneous other purchased or manufactured parts (springs, diaphragms, O-rings, gaskets, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Industry Experience Preference: 5-10 yrs. in the Gas Equipment Industry - preferably principal engineer and engineer management
  • Education Requirements: Welding /Mechanical Engineer degree or similar area
  • Must have experience working with cross-functional teams that include engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, marketing & sales
  • Technical Requirements: ERP (SAP and JDE preferable), Windchill, MS Office, CAD, CREO, Solid Works
  • Language Requirements: English; Spanish a plus
  • Mobility & Travel Requirements: Up to 10%
