What You Can Expect Working in the Residential Installer Position

As the Residential Installer for Survive-a-Storm shelters your primary responsible is to install various models of shelters into residential spaces as well as work in a team to review the schedule, load the shelters, and work with customers for delivery and installation. Great customer service and organizational skills will ensure the best experience and quality for our company and customers.

Responsibilities
  • Performs daily equipment Inspections.
  • Interacts and reviews installation schedule daily with the installation coordinator.
  • Loads and delivers shelters to installation sites.
  • Installs shelter at residential site per customer request.
  • Fills out all corresponding paperwork and returns it to the installation coordinator.
  • Maintains inventory in the warehouse and reports inventory levels to the installation coordinator and notifies them when inventory needs to be replenished.
  • Unloads shipments at the warehouse using a forklift.
  • Visits home improvement stores, inspects SAS and Extreme Shelters displays, and replenishes material if needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license.
  • 1+ years of construction experience.
  • 1+ years of forklift and pallet jack experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Medical Examiner's Certification [Medical Card].
  • Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
  • Ability to read and understand oversize routes and permits.

  • Very heavy work. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Temperatures can be below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees for periods longer than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
  • The worker is frequently required to operate machinery and/or power tools. Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform inspections and load and unload products.
