Transportation Engineer-in-Training

Job Summary: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Transportation Engineer-in-Training for our Dallas office. This full-time civil engineer position is in our transportation group while supporting other disciplines on an as needed basis. The Graduate EIT will work directly with a Professional Engineer to develop professional technical expertise and knowledge necessary to fulfil the experience requirement for licensure as a Professional Engineer.

Registration(s): EIT or ability to sit for the EIT exam

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).

Duties/Responsibilities:

    Strengthen professional and ethical responsibilities
  • Apply prescribed methods and procedures in accordance with established criteria
  • Prepare calculations in accordance with applicable design codes by following standard engineering practices and procedures within established guidelines
  • Prepare design plans and develop quantity calculations
  • Prepare project reports and/or design specifications
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts
  • Attend/lead project meetings and assist with presentations
  • Interact and collaborate with other staff on project assignments
  • Implement Huitt-Zollars' Quality Management Plans for project deliverables
  • Develop, oversee, and monitor project activities including scope, budget, and schedule management
  • Participate in engineering organizations (e.g., ACEC, ASCE and AASHTO)
  • Support company-wide transportation initiatives

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Science or Engineering
  • EIT, or ability to sit for the FE exam
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
