Assistant or Associate Professor (Tenure-Track) Position - Denton

Founded in 1901, Texas Woman's University (TWU) is a publicly funded co-educational institution that is designated as a Doctoral/research-intensive University by the Carnegie Foundation. The main TWU campus is in Denton, with health science campuses in Houston and Dallas. Housed within the TWU College of Health Sciences, The School of Health Promotion & Kinesiology (SHPK) offers BS, MS, MPH, and PhD degrees.

Responsibilities: This position is a tenure-track, nine-month academic year position with core MPH faculty responsibilities and the possibility of summer teaching. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to public health; advise undergraduate students; mentor master's and doctoral students; engage in scholarly research, including publishing research and applying for external research funding; engage in multidisciplinary collaborations; and participate in service activities within the department, college, university, and profession.

Qualifications: Applicants should have: (a) an earned research doctorate in a public health-related field or DrPH before the employment start date; (b) an MPH degree (if not DrPH) from a school or program of public health accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH); (c) a strong potential for or record of academic scholarship as demonstrated by research publications and ability to secure extramural research funding; (d) a commitment to and potential for teaching excellence in areas related to public health, community health, or health education/promotion or a record of successful college or university teaching; and (e) potential for or history of active service participation and/or leadership roles in campus, community, and professional organizations. The successful candidate must be able to work collegially and effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Possession of the CHES or MCHES certification and experience with acquiring and maintaining CEPH accreditation are highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with: a focused and documented research interest in rural health, community health, chronic disease prevention, health equity, physical activity, or nutrition; a strong interdisciplinary and collaborative research record; and experience working in a multicultural setting.
