DESCRIPTION:

The School of Health Promotion and Kinesiology invites applications to fill a full-time tenured/tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor for a nine-month academic appointment that begins Fall 2024. We are seeking a highly qualified individual with a specialization in Exercise Physiology, Motor Behavior, or Sport Psychology. Excellent collaborative research labs are available for both teaching and research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

An earned doctorate in Kinesiology with a focus in Exercise Physiology, Motor Behavior, Sport Psychology or a closely related concentration. ABD candidates will be considered (degree must be completed by time of employment). Committed to an active research agenda in area of specialization as evidenced by a record of academic scholarship and potential for extramural grant funding. Evidence of successful teaching record at university/college level in Exercise Science or related disciplines. Potential for or history of active service participation and/or leadership roles in campus, community, and professional organizations. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from different socioeconomic backgrounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

For exercise physiology, research interests focusing on physiological responses to exercise and/or the effects of exercise on human pathology (aka Exercise is Medicine) with strong biochemical analysis skills. Participation in a postdoctoral research fellowship. Successful mentorship of students, either at the undergraduate or graduate level, in a teaching and research setting. Ability to teach graduate level research methods. Experience with or interest in public health and research collaborations with public health faculty and students. Candidates for Associate Professor are expected to have a focused research agenda demonstrated by successful and ongoing record of peer-reviewed publications and obtaining extramural funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach undergraduate Kinesiology courses (lectures and labs) that may include, but are not limited to, exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, exercise leadership, sport psychology, or motor learning/control/development/behavior. Teach graduate classes in your area of specialization. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students and direct student research. Serve on school, college, and university committees.
