Profile

We are seeking a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our clinical faculty and serve in the Community Psychiatry Workforce Expansion (CPWE) program, a component of UT Southwestern's role in the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC).

The goals of the Community Psychiatry Workforce Expansion are to:

* Collaborate and coordinate with community mental health providers to expand the amount and availability of mental health care resources by developing training opportunities for residents and supervising residents at facilities operated by Local Mental Health Authorities and community mental health providers; and

* Increase the number of Texas-trained psychiatry residents who work in the public mental health system upon completion of their residencies.

This position will dedicate a significant portion of time to clinical care and supervision of trainees at CPWE sites. The specific clinical, educational, and research interests of the applicant and the needs of the department will determine the exact distribution of the remaining responsibilities.

Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. and be board eligible or board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. While Texas licensure is not required for consideration or selection, it is a pre-requisite for starting in the position. The ideal candidate's background includes direct patient care experience in community mental health and experience in academic training programs. Candidate must be able to provide supervision and teaching of child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, general psychiatry residents, triple board residents, medical students, and other allied health students. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
