Position: Engineer IV - Civil

Location: 1000 Wilshire Boulevard, Ste. 400, Los Angeles, CA 90017

Duties:

Lead the design (planning through final detailed design) of civil engineering projects, primarily in transportation/rail transit. Prepare and lead technical reports, specifications, design and contract documents, quantity take-offs, estimates, and calculations. Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Compile and compute a variety of engineering data. Provide support to project management and project control tasks. Conduct site visits for the purposes of observing and documenting field conditions and observations. Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc. Attend and lead meetings with Clients and Contractors. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, as needed. Mentor/train junior staff. Work on projects of increasing difficulty, with work being reviewed by a senior supervisor(s). 10% travel required for site investigation / inspection and data collection. Position is fixed location based in Los Angeles, CA office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed.


Requirements: Requires a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a directly related field plus six (6) years of experience as a Civil Engineer, or any occupation/role/job title involving heavy civil and structural engineering. Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:

Five (5) years of experience in each of the following:

- Determining appropriate analysis and design tools for various stages of projects and ability to independently deploy these tools

- Performing state-of-the-art seismic analysis and design in accordance with California and National codes

- Using finite elements analysis software such as SAP2000, Strand7, or Robot

- Designing structures supporting rails transit and airport facilities

- Design experience using materials such as concrete and structural steel

- Utilizing AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office products (such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Three (3) years of experience in each of the following:

- Mentoring and supervising teams of junior engineers, designers and digital delivery teams to deliver calculations, 3D models and construction documents including specifications and cost estimates

- Designing heavy civil underground structures, including diaphragm walls and cut-and-cover structures

License/Certificate Required:

- EIT License and Certification

- California PE license

Salary: $130,000 - $135,000/year. Apply via , Job Ref: 600.
