Position Summary:

Performs visual inspections of welded and brazed joints utilizing visual inspection equipment. Performs job under direct supervision.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

* Perform visual inspection of parts by following approved procedures.

* Setup, calibrate, standardize equipment, and conduct tests in accordance with approved procedures.

* Interpret results for acceptance or rejection and document results in accordance with procedures.

* Remain familiar with all codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the visual inspection method. Mark rejectable parts and complete required paperwork for required rework.

Secondary Responsibilities/Non-Essential Functions:

  • Assists Weld Inspector Specialist with daily activities as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge and proficiency in lean concepts and methods, current and future state mapping and value streaming for efficient product flow.
  • Maintains appropriate knowledge and ability levels to efficiently performs all assigned work and utilize this knowledge base to become proficient on new/unfamiliar assignments.

* Actively implements lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement; effectively applies lean concepts and tools in work area.

  • Maintains work area and equipment in an organized, clean, and FOD-free manner.

* Observes all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintains a clean and orderly work area.

* Maintain high ethical/quality standards in all assigned work.

Qualifications (relevant experience, education and training):

* Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years' experience or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities.

* At least (12) twelve months experience in an occupational function with a direct relationship to weldments fabricated to specific code.

  • Must be able to pass an annual vision exam in accordance with Parker Procedure 10.9 Maintains certified operator status as required by SPD procedures.

* Ability to interpret weld inspection requirements from drawings and specifications.

  • Ability to successfully pass required examinations per SPD Procedure 10.9. Ability to read, write and understand instructions, procedures, drawings and blueprints.

* Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment on research and solution development.

* Interprets reports and uses job specific software applications. Able to use employee self-service systems to access on-line information and use specialized automated systems.

* Knowledge of GTAW, AWS codes and standards preferred.

Typical Mental and Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to constantly remain in a stationary position. The person in this position seldom needs to move about inside the plant to access materials and machinery. The employee is occasionally required to reposition him/herself to operate equipment or move about parts and materials. The employee occasionally moves or transports materials and parts weighing up to 25 pounds around the plant.
