Summary of Job Duties:The Director of Workforce Development works under the supervision of the Dean of Workforce Education and Training and is responsible for all activities related to the UACCM workforce development program.

The Director's primary responsibilities are working with Business and Industry partners to develop, implement, and schedule non-credit workforce training programs. The Director will be responsible for planning and coordinating outreach to secondary partners regarding career and technical program offerings, both credit- and short-term trainings. In addition, the Director will provide prompt support and assistance with assessing training needs and developing customized training programs for businesses and industries and facilitate specialized training as needed.

The Director will interact regularly with community and business leaders to develop and maintain long-term working relationships and serve as the UACCM liaison with area business/industry owners and leaders as well as various government agencies and other entities providing services to the local workforce. The Director will represent the College and Division at civic meetings, statewide meetings, and other events.

Additional responsibilities include recruiting, selecting, supervising, and evaluating part-time instructors and facilitators of short-term training courses as well as maintaining accurate records as required and directed. Work cooperatively with other campus departments to meet the needs the local community and businesses.

Assist in researching and developing activities related to division initiatives.
Coordinate grant activities related to workforce initiatives, where applicable.


Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Night and weekend hours may be required on occasion.Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in education, community development, industrial relations, business or a related field.

  • Three years of supervisory experience

Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of the minimum qualifications upon approval of the Chancellor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree with an emphasis in education, community development, industrial relations, business or a related field.

  • Prior work experience in higher education.

  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to individuals and large groups.

  • Proficient in the use of computer software and applications, such as but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.

  • Knowledge of employee management principles, methods, and procedures.

  • Able to perform basic research, analyze information and prepare reports in a logical and informative manner.

  • Able to problem solve, organize and prioritize work, multi-task, and be flexible and accepting of change.

  • Able to work independently and cooperatively with a team to achieve the mission/goal.

  • Able to work effectively with people of various cultural backgrounds.

  • Able to lift and move objects that may weight up to 25 lbs.

  • Knowledge of planning, research, and analysis techniques and procedures.

  • Knowledge of department operations, policies, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

  • Ability to conduct research and perform quantitative quality assurance reviews.

  • Ability to research, prepare, and present comprehensive written and oral reports.

  • Ability to organize and conduct meetings and workshops.

Salary Information:

Salary Range: $45,000 to $55,000
