Overview

The Sr. Field Technician of PBB will act as the Subject Matter Expert in the support of the maintenance responsibilities for the company's Passenger Boarding Bridge contracts at multiple airport locations across the country. The role will be instrumental assisting with training and the delivery of technical services to meet the needs of outstation work associated within and outside of our contract projects. The key goal of this role it to advance the companies technical resources through providing hands on technical services where needed as well as training other ELS technicians that will result in the increase our field's technical abilities. The position will be required to audit operations to ensure quality technical services that ELS expects from our technicians are being rendered by identifying corrective actions and improved policy and procedure. Using data driven goal setting the role will be instrumental in assisting operations that consistently develop and employ best practices regardless of location and achieve exceptional performance results when measured against recognized industry leading performance measures. The role will coordinate with the Field Solutions Manager and the Regional Managers to ensure support is scheduled at locations as required. The position will develop information packages to help new employees acclimate to the specific equipment to achieve fundamental troubleshooting and maintenance requirements for the PBB systems in their care. The position will provide hands on training to multiples technical and managerial positions and must have excellent understanding of the tasks necessary in the maintenance and operation of PBB including, but not limited to mechanical and electrical components of all types of passenger boarding bridges, ground power units, pre-conditioned air units, potable water cabinets and PLC equipment. This will be inclusive of preventative maintenance, causes of operational problems, deficiency inspections and reporting, PLC's, VFD's and all other electrical systems required to run automated PBB systems.

Responsibilities
    Excellent knowledge in the field of Passenger boarding bridge maintenance, situational leadership, and technical aptitude.
  • Will take responsibility to safely and efficiently complete all technical field assignments.
  • Will advance training content for the PBB systems that supports technical staff development and the maintenance needs of the company's contracted BHS programs.
  • Develop and provide hands on training courses at operations as required, specific to the equipment types and local needs.
  • Support Operations team by working in a safe, customer-focused manner.
  • Must be self-motivated and customer centric.
  • Will use data to continuously improve operations by eliminating non-valued added activities, waste and low productivity.
  • Will use software platforms (CMMS) to document all work being provided to include the use of labor and parts.
  • Support sales activities within customer visits, development of technical content and staffing plans within the company's proposals.
  • Will help the local development of programs to ensure the company builds maintenance teams that are not only reliant on strong individual performers but are also built on strong succession plans that constantly groom and develop the knowledge base across all technicians at each location.
  • Assess risk at individual programs and where necessary recommend programs that protect operations from the loss of tribal and local knowledge by building information packages to capture experience and technical know-how that can be efficiently transferred to new employees.
  • Facilitate the development and design of innovative solutions to maintenance challenges.
  • Handle multiple internal and external projects and daily activities, manage to and meet deadlines, and develop and track plans on how to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Work with local site and central Safety department leadership to understand, implement, and audit safety programs. Ensure that all safety programs and procedures are followed.
  • Develop, maintain and improve preventative maintenance programs and good working relationships with operations leadership.
  • Must have the ability to provide specific, enriched feedback to enhance individual performance.
  • Perform additional duties/assignments required by management from time to time.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Be available to support emergency service calls for malfunctioning equipment both by phone and have the ability to quickly deploy on site visits.
  • Able to perform comprehensive inspections of equipment in the development of deficiency reports and prepare labor, parts, and materials for estimates.
  • Complies with all company and federally established policies and procedures
  • Utilizes a computer to perform a variety of communications, training and administrative processes.
  • Completes forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures.
  • Completes all ELSU safety training as assigned by the Company.
  • Compliance with all ELS safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties/assignments that may be required by management from time to time.
Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in maintenance and repair of passenger boarding bridges, electrical systems, hydraulics and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Project Manager or similar, focusing on the installation of Passenger Boarding Bridges
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of airport and airport support equipment (conveyor systems, GSE equipment, Jet bridges)
  • Travel up to three weeks at a time.
  • Knowledge of general workplace safety requirements and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Job is based in Carrollton Texas, however there is the opportunity to partially work out of a home office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • OSHA 30 hr course completion
  • 4+ years' experience in a safety and/or training leadership position
  • Master Electrician License
  • Welding and fabricating experience

  • Must be proficient in MS office.

Education:

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and training

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year criminal history records check to obtain and maintain an Airport Security badge
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Company's insurance policy
  • Must be able to comply with the ELS Drug and Alcohol policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Varies between an office environment as well as all areas located on Airport property. May be around dust, dirt, moving machinery, temperature changes, heights and noise levels below OSHA minimum requirements. Use of PPE is required.
