Job Description

Mott MacDonald is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced Stormwater/Drainage Engineer in Water and Wastewater infrastructure projects to join our growing South-Central teams in both Denver, CO, and Florida (most specifically in Tampa & Orlando). You'll work alongside an experienced and knowledgeable team of engineers, designers, and project managers. The environment is one of challenge, collaboration, and client focus, with regular staff education and social activities opportunities.

The candidate's primary role within the group is to provide drainage and water quality design and production services for roadway projects, drainage, and water resource projects. The candidate's secondary role within the group is to support floodplain analysis and support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the drainage design engineer on a variety DOT and municipality drainage projects which includes supporting the Drainage Design Engineer in the preparation of calculations, plans production, stormwater management plans, reports, shop drawing review, immediate response projects and flooding complaint support. Additional support to the Department may include drainage connection permit review and database management and ERC drainage reviews.
  • Experience with DOT drainage design criteria for RRR and capacity projects which may include the following designs: open and closed storm drain design, wet and dry stormwater management facilities, pond siting analysis, base clearance analysis, nutrient loading analysis, and bridge hydraulic analysis.
  • Strong ability to organize and manage drainage design with an emphasis on maintaining DOT in house project schedules and budgets.
  • Strong ability to forecast project tasks' workload and cost estimating.
  • Coordinates work with District Drainage Design Engineers and DOT in house project managers and multidisciplinary design groups.
  • Good technical writing and communication skills.
  • Responsible for quality control, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, and checking computations or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or similar)
  • At least 5+ years of drainage design work experience with DOT projects.
  • Must be proficient in MicroStation, GEOPAK Drainage or ASAD, ICPR, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS
  • Experience in 3D corridor modeling is a plus.
  • P.E. license (in CO or FL) is highly desirable but not required.

In compliance with the Pay Transparency Act for Colorado, the expected salary range is from $80,000-$95,000. Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
