Job Summary
This position is responsible for administering, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading and patching of all University Library enterprise software and servers. Mentors and supervises Software Systems Specialists. Acts as a role model in demonstrating integrity and ethical behavior in working with confidential and university information.

Minimum Education and Experience
No degree - Six years recent applicable experience
Associate Degree with 4 years applicable experience
Bachelor's Degree with 2 years applicable experience
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides programming for processing patron information to be uploaded into ALMA (Library Management System).
  • Oversees the computer programming required for coordinating and supporting electronic information resources for the Library.
  • Documents processes, procedures, system configurations and services.
  • Independently and collaboratively prepares design specifications, manages and develops stable, best practices, and environment specific enterprise class solutions.
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of Library technology solutions, architectures, and lifecycles. Develops and implements proactive, automated solutions and processes. Manages and moves forward technology projects for the library.
  • Interacts with Library staff on a regular basis and assists with software and hardware needs. Makes recommendations for purchases of hardware and software for the Library.
  • Provides second-tier support and assistance for Library staff related to technology systems.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots any issues with software systems and related technology, working with OIT and/or other UTD staff as required, ensuring all systems and software applications are running properly and all software and system issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Provides timely communication with other library staff.
