Overview
As a Material Handler for USU Housing, your primary responsibility will be to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient inventory management area. You will be tasked with various warehouse duties to ensure the smooth operation of the housing facility. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of USU Housing while gaining valuable experience in inventory management and warehouse operations.


Responsibilities
  • Unload Trucks: Receive incoming shipments and unload trucks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Paperwork Functions: Perform various paperwork tasks related to inventory management, including documentation of received items, updating inventory records, and completing requisition forms.
  • Stock Shelves: Organize and stock shelves with received inventory items, maintaining proper inventory levels.
  • Pick List Fulfillment: Pull items from inventory based on pick lists, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Data Entry: Perform regular data entry tasks to update inventory systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Warehouse Maintenance: Keep the warehouse and area closets clean, organized, and free from hazards.
  • Cycle Counts: Conduct regular cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Adherence to Policies: Follow all company policies and procedures regarding inventory management, safety protocols, and warehouse operations.
  • Vehicle Errands: Utilize university vehicles to run errands such as picking up supplies or delivering items to various locations on campus.
  • Material Movement: Transport materials to designated storage areas using appropriate equipment or manual methods.
  • Minor Furniture Repair: Perform minor repairs on furniture items as needed, ensuring they are in good condition for use.
  • Other Duties: Assist with additional tasks and projects as assigned by management to support the overall operations of USU Housing.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Basic math skills
  • Must be able to work well with a team or unsupervised
  • Valid Utah drivers license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous forklift experience preferred
  • Previous warehouse experience preferred

This position requires moderate physical effort. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 25 pounds, walking and standing. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
