ELECTRONICS TEST TECHNICIAN

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

You will work on innovative thermal management technologies in the Electronics group testing a broad range of OEM's. The Engineering Technician will provide technical knowledge through completion of PCB Cross Sectioning and report completion. The Engineering Technician position at the Gentherm Technical Center can not only support the completion of validation plans but to enhance and streamline day to day testing processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect PCB Electronic Assemblies for defects, solder quality, parts alignment, missing parts, visual damage, etc.
  • This individual will prepare laboratory reports for review and complete all internal departmental documentation accurately.
  • Works on micro sections and has knowledge of different micro sections.
  • Pot and polish a variety of samples, including PCBAs, ICs, semiconductor die, metallurgical samples, polymers, ceramics, and more.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, IPC specs and/or OEM specifications.
  • Bring testing and/or laboratory concerns to the attention of laboratory management.
  • Ensure proper paperwork, test data, and testing outputs are recorded and generate report to be reviewed by Lab Leader or manager.
  • Support continuous improvement projects within work area to improve efficiency of test setups.
  • Conduct testing in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements adherence to internal lab procedures.
  • Communicates regularly to engineers and managers, suggests, and composes procedural changes, maintains a clean, safe work environment, and communicates safety hazards and issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency at reading and understanding schematics and other electronic engineering documentation.
  • General experience in PCB assembly and electronics board work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of IPC and automotive specifications as they pertain to PCB acceptance or rejection criteria.
