Description
The Used Engine Sales Representative locates, develops, and maintains new prospects and existing customers for the purpose of selling and buying equipment (engines, generators, and other equipment). Continually collaborates with EP Sales Manager to achieve strategic goals and address targeted market growth opportunities. Essential Functions:
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Uses the internet and industry relationships to source and sell used equipment
  • Uses photos and inspection reports to assign the value to used equipment
  • When needed, travel to seller's facility to inspect used equipment
  • Uses technical knowledge to estimate needed repairs to make equipment more sellable
  • Work with service department to define scope of repair work and assure repair invoice is appropriate for repair work performed
  • Assures Holt and industry web sites are maintained with current photos and pricing for used equipment
  • Email special used equipment offers to self-created list of used equipment dealers, brokers and customers
  • Determine when used equipment should be disposed of via Auction House to sell the used equipment via auction
  • Regularly looks for used equipment that can be purchased and resold a good margins
  • If purchased used equipment is not as advertised, negotiate pricing, or return to seller
  • Produce professional quotes in a timely manner including repair and freight cost
  • Write sales orders that include all known and estimated cost related to the sale
  • Arranges inbound and outbound freight
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Work Hours:
  • 40+ hours a week, to include late evenings, weekends, and holidays
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of CAT products and product support services and programs
  • Knowledge of inventory management and process
  • Knowledge of safe work policies, procedures, and practices
  • Knowledge of sales techniques, financial, credit, and accounting principles
  • Effective influencing skills which includes motivating and developing new and existing customers
  • Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills in order to build long term business relationships
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and other computer software
  • Time management skills in order to develop plans for structuring self and others to attain maximum productivity by establishing deadlines, milestones, tasks, resources and achievement of goals and work results
  • Communication skills and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments of the organization and customers in order to maintain and develop relationships
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills to apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, approaches, and prevention to problems
  • Attention to detail and being thorough in completing work task
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately
  • Ability to communicate and understand both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups
Education and Experience:
  • BA or BS Degree in Business or related field preferred
  • Minimum of three to five years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required
  • Three to five years Used Equipment sales experience with engine-generators preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
Travel:
  • Up to 30% travel is to be expected
  • Valid driver's license

  • This job is generally performed in a professional office; in environmentally controlled conditions, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion
