The Outpatient Coder is responsible for coding diagnoses and procedures of Outpatient Diagnostic and Hospital-based Clinic records using ICD-10-CM coding system. Identifies cases which do not meet medical necessity and consults with ordering physicians for additional information to appropriately code the account for compliance and reimbursement. Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of CMS and other payer guidelines. OP Organization-wide volume totals approximately 290,000 - 300,000 accounts per year.
The primary job duties of the Coder-Outpatient includes, but is not limited to, the following:
CPC is required for this position. CPC-A is eligible to apply. Radiology coding a plus. This position will code CPT, DX and modifiers. 100% REMOTE
Education: High School education required: college degree preferred. Medical Terminology and Physiology & Anatomy required.
Experience: Entry level position. New coding program graduates considered. Previous coding or health information management experience preferred. Must have a basic understanding of body systems and disease process. Basic computer skills required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: CPC or CPC-A required
