Job Description

Flint Hills Resources is now hiring Turnaround Field Engineers at our Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, Minnesota. As a Turnaround Field Engineer, you will be responsible for a range of responsibilities that includes planning, coordination, and safe work execution for unit shutdowns, critical reliability work, and turnarounds. This role will coordinate and execute the plans developed which include the areas of blinding, torquing, valves, miscellaneous pipework, exchangers, vessels, towers, PSVs, and other refinery equipment.

Our Team


We support the Operations Capability of planning related to "Ready for Maintenance" - decommissioning/de-inventory and chemical cleaning for shutdown and TA maintenance. Range of shutdown coordination will include the areas of reactors, boilers, sour water strippers, deaerators, wwtp systems, and turnaround units.


What You Will Do

  • Developing unit shutdown worklists, coordinating with operations and process engineering to develop shutdown plans, materials procurement, estimating, scheduling, work execution plans, manpower planning, cost controls/reporting
  • Complying with LDAR regulations, OSHA requirements, company safety & environmental risk profiles
  • Utilize safe work practice knowledge to deliver plans & execution coordination that supports competitiveness
  • Adhering to safe work practice policies
  • Maintain an efficient use of resources during all project phases through collaboration, communication, and strong critical thinking skills
  • Availability for unexpected overtime work as required, which may include nights, weekends and holidays, especially during the scheduled work execution throughout the year
  • Adhering to environmental regulations for the staging, execution and removal of chemical cleaning systems, de-inventory systems, and temporary waste storage/frac tanks


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Two (2) years' or more of experience in roles of engineering, project management, construction management, maintenance, operations, or turnaround planning and execution
  • Experience of refinery equipment (i.e., Exchangers, vessels, heaters, and towers, pipe valve fitting)


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Leadership experience
  • Microsoft Project scheduling or other scheduling software
  • Planning and estimating background
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
